Get a risk free share worth up to £200 with Freetrade

There’s a real buzz about investing at the moment, especially after the recent incident involving Reddit users and Gamestop.

Of course, one surefire way to lose money is to go in all guns blazing into something you may know little about and on the basis of a social media buzz as I outline here.

However, this doesn’t mean that you can’t start to look at investing as another way to make money – I would never think of it as a “sidehustle”, as that insinuates a “get rich quick” mentality that is unsuited to the beginner investor.

How does it work?

Download the Freetrade app. (You need to be on a tablet or mobile for this)

1. Make sure you select the basic free account.
2. Enter your details – you will need your National Insurance Number so make sure you have it to hand. This can usually be found on payslips.
3. You will then be directed to complete a W8-BEN form – this is just to declare you do not pay tax in America.
4. Deposit £1 into your account. You should then get a message that you have received a mystery share that will unlock in 7-10 days.
5. Within 7-10 days you should get a push notification from the app saying your mystery share is unlocked. You can then log in and discover how much it is worth!

 

At this point if you wish, you can withdraw your share – so this could be anything up to £200 for absolutely nothing! Of course, you could also choose to leave it in and see how it performs. If it is a small amount, such as less than £10, this could be the smarter option – but it’s entirely up to you of course.
