Kids Pass App Review: Save money on family days out
With the summer holidays upon us here in the UK, parents across the country will be looking for ways to fill the days over the next six weeks.
Inevitably, this can cost a great deal of money, so anything that can help spread the cost will be of interest. This is where the Kids Pass app can help!
I am well aware that my own budget can go spiralling out of control at this time of the year and while I am a big fan of making our own fun for free, days and meals out are inevitable and so I am always looking for discounts on days out for families.
With that in mind, here’s my Kids Pass app review and everything you need to know about saving money using Kids Pass this summer and beyond.
What is the Kids Pass app?
Kids Pass is a great membership scheme that can save you money on cinema tickets, days out, eating out and even Haven holidays. Right now they are offering a 40 day family membership for just £1 – (normally £7.50 a month) perfect to get you through the summer holidays.
One membership covers the whole family and the app can be used on up to 5 devices.
How does the Kids Pass App work?
When you open the app, you can browse or search for offers. This can include cinema chains, theme parks, zoos and resturants to name a few. Once you have selected the offer, follow the onscreen instructions.
For some offers, you may need to click through and purchase on the website, where your Kids Pass discount will be automatically deducted. For others, such as my local cinema chain, I need to buy the tickets on the Kids Pass app at a special discounted rate and then redeem as a gift voucher on the cinema website.
In some cases, the voucher codes can be downloaded and used directly on your phone at the venue’s box office or ticket booth, which means no messing around printing out or forgetting to take the vouchers with you!
Every offer is different depending on the retailer, so make sure you follow the simple on-screen instructions.
How much does Kids Pass cost?
Kids Pass is usually £7.99 per month, or £39.99 annually. However, you can currently get a trial of 40 days for £1, just in time for the summer holidays, after which time you can choose to cancel, otherwise membership will auto renew at £7.99 per month.
Is Kids Pass App any Good?
I have been using the Kids Pass app for a couple of years now, so I thought I would list my favourite savings offered.
Up to 40% off the latest cinema releases
Cinema tickets are eye wateringly expensive these days, and I always try and make use of the Odeon Kids screenings of older films at a reduced rate.
However, going to see the latest releases over the summer holiday is a treat many families enjoy, and that’s why it’s good to know Kids Pass offer up to 40% off adult and child tickets for the latest releases. For a family of 4, this could easily be a saving of £15-£20 depending on the cinema.
If you’re looking for other ways to save money at the cinema, this post has you covered!
Kids eat free / money off deals at a multitude of family restaurants
My biggest bugbear of eating out with my daughter has to be the expense of the children’s menu. Often you can be tied into buying a set 3 course option even though you might only want a mains, and sometimes the portion sizes are way too big for younger ones.
My favourite Kidspass offers: Kids eat free at Giraffe & Bar Burrito, kids eat for £1 at Prezzo, BOGOF at PapaJohns and Pizza Hut – the adults in your family can probably take advantage of this one too!
10% off bookings at Alton Towers Hotels and up to 40% off Alton Towers theme park tickets
We have been looking at booking a night in the Cbeebies land hotel for a while now, so I will definitely be taking advantage of both of these discounts when we book this break.
Up to £50 off a booking at Haven
We have already booked a break at Haven this year – if only we’d known about this discount! We will definitely be using it for our next break.
How can I check what offers are available in my area before signing up?
Just head to the website or download the app and have a look. Offers can be changed so make sure you check the T&Cs on the site, but new ones are being added to all the time.
